From one dependent Immigrant to another

Hi,

To your disappointment, this is no article , certainly. It has no analysis, no jargoned language, no eloquence and certainly no reiteration from other articles. Because it is a story told over and over again to deaf ears. And now it has gone beyond the need of an article to tell or rather retell - the story of the angst and suffering of a dependent immigrant in US of A.

The no-work permit for H4 Visa is a major disadvantage of the current immigration system of US. The H1-H4 setup as known to us, is based on the foundation of family reunion, Almost half a century back when this policy was formulated it might have made sense, but it is evidently obsolete for the much capably independent spouses of today. They are as much educated if not more than their spouses and often hold niche skills highly valued in the job market of this country.
Strangely enough, spouses of L1 visa holders can work and earn here, but not that of a H1 visa holder.
No job and no exposure work like the last nail to their coffin, as if the perks of staying in foreign land were not enough. Because as per my research almost 75% of the H4 visa holders either used to work or were about to join one when they had marry and relocate .
We all agree it is a family decision to accompany our better halves to a foreign land , but then the only other option was to have a family divided.

My name is Pamela. I am currently on a visa with work authorization. But this was not the case a year back. My dependent status sensitized me to the life and sentiments of spouses on H4 visa.
Not that I can change anything by just a petition , but that would certainly not deter me to make an effort. So request you to sign and support this cause that would relieve many spouses from this pain and benefit their families.
