Historical Event on 2/18/1899

Jainarain Vyas, leader, freedom fighter and social reformer, was born at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He played a leading role in creating united Rajasthan by integration of various states of Rajputana. He was the first Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1951 to 1954.

9/20/1881Mughal conqueror Babur Shah (1483-1530) defeats Ibrahim Lodi II, the Lodi Sultan of Delhi, and captures Delhi and the Koh-i-noor diamond, in the First Battle of Panipat. He founded the Mughal dynasty in India (1526-1761), consolidated by his grandson Akbar.
4/7/1987In a case filed by Saira Banu of Kerela, Supreme Court held that all wives, including Muslim women, whose husbands have either married again or taken a mistress are entitled to maintenance.
5/9/1995Militants set Charar township on fire in the vicinity of the Charar-e-Sherif shrine. More than 1,000 houses burnt.
