India informs Pakistan and other dominion representatives that it has decided to refer the Kashmir issue to the Security Council under Article 35 of the United Nations Charter.

12/30/1947Queen Elizabeth I granted its Royal Charter to the 218 Knights and merchants of the City of London who formed the East India Company. The venture failed to achieve its stated objectives -- it made little impression on the Dutch control of the spice trade and could not establish a lasting outpost in the East Indies.
3/14/1931First Indian talkie film 'Alam Ara' released at Majestic Cinema, Bombay. Directed by Ardeshir Irani, the film was 11,152 ft. long and was produced by Imperial Film Co., Bombay and beared censored No. 10043 on March 11. The most remarkable thing about this film was birth of sound in Indian films, it came with a bang and quickly displaced the silent movies and brought revolutionary changes in the whole set up of the industry.

11/29/1996The Indian Journal of Medical Research brought out special issues, as part of the 85th year celebrations of ICMR, on Nutrition Research (November 1995) and Diarrhoeal Diseases (July, 1996). The ICMR Bulletin also brought out special issues on such topics as Nutrition, Tuberculosis, AIDS, Tribal Health, etc. so as to coincide with the theme selected for a particular month as part of the celebrations. As part of the global theme initiative coordinated by JAMA, USA, the January 1996 issue of the ICMR was devoted to 'Emerging and Re-emerging Infections'.
